I grew up in a small farming community in extreme Northeast Missouri with my parents (who still live in the same house) and one brother, Corey. I moved to Cedar Rapids in 1990 and started attending Kirkwood Community College on a very part-time basis. I finally received my AA degree in 2001. I then transferred to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa to work on a BA in Elementary Education.
I have two children; Josh (active in the Army National Guard) and Zach (a middle school student). I also have a fantastic fiance’ (Rick) - wedding planned for January, 2006 - and two stepchildren; Zach (a senior in high school) and Ericka (a freshman in high school).
In my spare time I am attempting to become a part-time entrepreneur by baking and selling homemade dog treats. I was inspired by my two dogs: Missie (a Pomeranian) and Schautzie (a German Shepherd) who are ALWAYS begging for something to eat. I also love to garden, sing, dance, and spend time in my backyard by the pond.
