Science Course Requirements

Biological Sciences

Required courses include a complete introductory course in animal biology or general zoology and at least three upper-division-level courses in biology or zoology, one of which must be animal, human, or exercise physiology.*

*Note: Lower-division, combined anatomy-physiology courses will not satisfy this requirement.

Chemical Sciences

A complete series of introductory courses in chemistry followed by an upper-level course in introductory biochemistry.

Required Lower-Division Courses:

  • Principles of Chemistry I and II
  • Organic Chemistry I
  • Organic II (recommended)

Required Upper-Division Course

  • Introductory/General Biochemistry*

*A survey course in organic/ biochemistry will not satisfy this requirement.

Statistical Sciences

Required Upper-Division Course:

  • General statistics or biostatistics
