I was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania but moved to Iowa at a very young age. I grew up here with my mother and three siblings. I spend much time outdoors, swimming, camping, hiking, fishing, and enjoying the snow. After high school I attended both The University of Northern Iowa and The University of Iowa where I studied chemical engineering. With my graduation approaching my science interest quickly turned into a medical interest and I attended The University of Iowa's Physician Assistant Program. I graduated in 1990 and began work in a rural family practice in Maquoketa, Iowa. I continued in this practice for 18 years. I received my MPAS from The University of Nebraska in 2005. For the last two years I have also had the opportunity to practice part time in a busy emergency department.

My husband's name is Doug and he is a surgical intensive care nurse here at the university. We have two sons and multiple pets that are considered part of the family as well. I have a small extended family and spending time with them as well as with my husband and children is very important to me. We enjoy the outdoors, biking, hiking, and traveling.
